Dublin School Tour!!!
The boys in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes went on their school tour last Friday to Dublin. It was an early start with the bus leaving at 650 to be in Colbert station for the 755 train. We got to Dublin and walked to the Wax Museum where the boys saw many interesting characters such as Oscar Wilde, Samuel Becket, Eamon De Valera, Mary McAleese, Patrick Hillery, The Simpsons and lots lots more. After this we had the big surprise of the tour which was ‘Dublinia’ which is a viking tour. They boys loved this tour despite feeling very very tired. We then walked to St. Patricks Cathedral and had our lunch in the adjoining park and recharged our batteries. This was followed by the amazing ‘Viking Splash Tour’. This was a bus tour which also went into the grand canal. We then headed back to Heuston Station for the 6pm train. We had just enough time to have a quick ice cream stop before getting the train home. It was a long day but it was a most enjoyable day made ever more special by the co-operation of all the boys. We had so much fun and they were an absolute pleasure to take to Dublin. Well done everyone. Feel free to tell us about what you enjoyed about the day boys.
Active Week A Mix of Pictures
What a week we had. We had so much fiun trying out new things, hearing about amazing achievements and throwing ourselves into lots of different and interesting activities. Each morning started off with Wake Up Shake up ran by Clodagh. It was a great way to start the morning and parents and pupils really enjoyed it.On Tuesday we had an orienteering session whereby the boys paired off and followed clues on a map of the school and answered questions. They really enjoyed this activity. On Wednesday the older boys got soaked trying to walk out to two mile gate to do a nature trail but unfortunately we had to turn back. The infants however did walk a mile with a smile. We also had a visit from Chris Jones who spoke to the boys about climbing Mount Everest. They were fascinated with Chris and his story. We had a visit from Taekwondo Instructors who took the boys for a lesson in the hall. We also had an amazing sports day crowned off by stalls and a 6th class relay in conjunction with the Fire Brigade. There was such a great buzz around the school that week and I can safely say that everone had a great time. Well done on such a great week all!!!
Bike Checks
Today the boys of KBNS availed of a bike check and cycle safety lesson. Each class was taken out to the yard and were advised on how to cycle safely on the road. They were also told about how to look after their bikes correctly and how their helmets should fit. The boys really enjoyed this opportunity.
Asatro Turf Visits In the Sunshine!!!
What else would you do in the fine weather but avail of the fabulous Astro Turf facilities at St Annes with a great bunch of boys. We played Tag Rugby on one day and Soccer another day. We have been practising walking in tight groups and staying in twos for our school tour on Friday to Dublin too. I hope working so hard all year was worth it boys!!
English lessons in the Sun!!
In the last week or so the boys in 3rd and 4th have been working on writing a piece based on climbing Mount Everest. We were priviledged to have Chris Jones come to the school and talk to us during Active Week about his adventures climbing Mount Everest. He brought in some of his gear also for the boys to look at. After the boys had written their pieces they asked their friends to read them and discuss them. We have also spent much time reading novels recentlya nd they boys are engrossed in their reading which is fantastic to see. Well done boys and keep up the great reading over the summer!!!
